Mothers Milk is Sweet

Mother's Milk is Sweet

This design is inspired by a Kenyan proverb found on a cloth worn by women in East Africa and often used to carry babies on their backs. Even though 99% of babies are breastfed in Kenya, this Swahili proverb celebrates the value of women and the value of breastfeeding. Read more about this design or order online. Massachusetts DPH to announce Hospital Breastfeeding Awards

As part of MassBFC's annual provider conference on October 6, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health will recognize hospitals taking significant steps to improve their promotion of and support for breastfeeding. Click here for more details.

CDC releases comprehensive hospital survey around breastfeeding

June 13, 2008 — In a survey whose responses included almost 2,700 maternity hospitals and birth centers in the US, the CDC found that most hospitals fell short of implementing evidence-based practices around breastfeeding.

FDA proposes accurate labeling for drugs in lactation

May 29, 2008 — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is proposing major revisions to prescription drug labeling to provide more complete information about the effects of medicines used during pregnancy and breast-feeding.

New randomized trial links hospital practices with breastfeeding success and childhood intelligence

May 15, 2008 — A new study out this month found that hospital practices that support breastfeeding boost a child’s IQ at six years of age.
